Grants in Action

Our grant process

In 2004, MHSFI senior management worked in collaboration with the staff and an external consultant to establish a grantmaking program that included the development and implementation of policies and procedures, as well as grant- making philosophies, adopted by the Methodist Health System Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors.

During our first fiscal year, over 10 grants were awarded to non-profit entities that provided programs related to the improvement of health status of the residents of Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the MHSFI Board of Directors has approved a new strategic grantmaking policy. Strategic grantmaking commenced as planned, in the 2nd quarter 2007. Strategic grants, many covering multiple years, are currently in place.
