This year again has been a very good year for Methodist Health System Foundation, Inc. We have successfully pulled together as a system to respond to many of the challenges of the rapidly changing environment. We continue to be committed to the Mission and Values of MHSFI and have made considerable progress working together with other agencies and institutions in an effort to optimize our shared strength to improve health care in East New Orleans and beyond. The spirit of collaboration that is demonstrated in these efforts underscores the fact that we can accomplish far more together than we can individually.
We continue to work hard to expand our network of school-based centers offering no cost medical services, affiliations for mobile vans to provide immunizations, counseling services, prevention and wellness education as well as entering into arrangements with educational institutions for major scholarship programs to fill the much needed healthcare staffing deficit that we have long experienced in our community. We continue to reach for optimal balance for supporting needs while drawing on the strengths of being part of a larger system. This balance is directly related to developing and sustaining communication among leaders as we work together in support of common goals.
As a faith-based healthcare system we are challenged to create a strategic vision that would be inspiring, transformative and enables us to have a more positive impact on the lives of those whom we serve. In response to that challenge, we have continued to retool our efforts on programs and services in a manner that will hopefully cause a reduction in health disparities as we embrace both illness and wellness models to address the lack of access to care by the most vulnerable in East New Orleans and beyond.
A commitment to responsible stewardship enables MHSF to fulfill all aspects of our Mission and includes a strong financial performance, which is essential. We are pleased to say that we continue to operate in a positive financial environment.
As the Board and Management of MHSF consider all of the needs of the community and the increasing changes in the landscape, we are reminded that the tools and methods may change, when they must, but our Mission will not change, nor our dedication to it. We are grateful and inspired by your prayers and ask for your continued support, so together we can preserve the Legacy of Methodist Health System Foundation for future generations.
