Chalmette High School Based Health Center Recognized
We are pleased to announce that the Chalmette High School, School Based Health Center was recently recognized by the Department of Health and Hospitals Office of Public Health - Adolescent School Health Program. Certificates of Recognition were presented by Maxine Kimbrell, LCSW-BACS, Project Manager of the Adolescent School Health Initiative, in recognition for maintaining contract compliance and outstanding achievements in three distinct areas; Registrations, Immunizations and Comprehensive Physicals.

Chalmette High School School Based Health Center Passes Lapert Review for Accreditation
Chalmette High School School Based Health Center (CHSSBHC) underwent its required state inspection for accreditation in April, 2011. This is the center's second review, first Lapert II review, and first review in the new facility. The Lapert Review consists of 11 reviewers, both state officials and peer volunteers. The process takes about six hours. Both, facility operations and patient care aspects are reviewed against stringent guidelines. Patient charts were randomly selected for review of both physical and psychological care. The CHSSBHC received full accreditation for three more years, with no noted deficiencies. Reviewers were impressed with the facility operations, and clinical care at CHHSSBHC
A Second School Based Health Center in St. Bernard Parish is planned
Our vision to be a healthy conduit to the community grows. The support, development and management of health related programs and accessibility to those programs are at the very core of our mission and a key component to improving the health care status of the area we serve. In that regard, we are pleased to announce that Methodist Health System Foundation, Inc. (MHSFI) has signed a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Nunez Community College (NCC) for the development of a School Based Health Center on their campus.
For some time, MHSFI has participated in ongoing discussions with NCC's Chancellor and his staff in the development of this project. There is still much to do in orchestrating such an endeavor however, a Fall 2012 date has been tentatively designated for the Nunez School Based Health Center to begin operations.
January 2011 - IMG Holdings, L.L.C. donates property
We would like to express our sincere appreciation in recognizing the generosity of IMG Holdings, L.L.C. Their recent donation to MHSFI of properties in the East New Orleans and Chalmette, St Bernard Parish areas strengthens our shared commitment to the community. We will do our best to be good stewards of its use for health care services in those respective areas, in the future.
