Featured Grantee: Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans

Since 1908, Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans (TASGNO) is a social services agency helping individuals experiencing homelessness in the Greater New Orleans area. Its mission is to work to end homelessness and its vision is a New Orleans where everyone has a safe place to call home. Travelers Aid provides crisis-intervention counseling and support services for the homeless and stranded travelers who may become homeless.

• Served more than 8,000 individuals

• Delivered over 26,000 units of services

• Helped hundreds of individuals move into housing and access critical resources

Future Development

The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) and the City of New Orleans Office of Community Development recently announced a funding award to HRI Communities and Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans to develop a non-congregate housing facility in the 2900 block of Tulane Avenue. HRI will build the facility which will feature private, non-congregate units equipped with kitchens and bathrooms. Travelers Aid will provide support services on site and help residents transition to permanent housing.

Hope Community Health Center

Hope Community Health Center was founded in 2019 located on the campus of the New Orleans Family Justice Center in downtown New Orleans.  The clinic’s goal is to better meet the primary, behavioral health, and forensic care for survivors of violence including domestic and family violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana is a health and human services agency working to build healthy communities for all people. It encourages positive development: providing services to promote healthy development of children and families through a continuum of services including mentoring, workforce development, and trauma-informed care.  It also provides services for people with disabilities, older adults, and people experiencing homelessness.
